Amana
/Goodman Opens House With Celebrity Flair "This is the first legitimate business I ever owned," quipped Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman outside of an HVAC supply house that happens to share his name. The popular politician reveled in hearty handshakes and witty one-liners as Amana/Goodman HVAC supply hosted an open house September 30th at their new location on the corner of Tropicana and West Harmon in Las Vegas. Regional Manager Jim Toomey greeted visitors and showed off the new space. Toomey said that the company's nation wide expansion of 25 new locations has reached the Las Vegas Valley, and that the new location is the first of possibly three in the years to come. Amana/Goodman is the 2nd largest supplier of
residential HVAC equipment nationwide, and despite the fact that the Vegas
locations deal mainly with replacement units, they are positive the market
will continue to grow. Sporting a new warehouse space of about 27,000 square feet, the new location is smaller by almost half of the original location near Nellis. The original space, however, is also scheduled for a move in addition to being downsized in months to come. The plan is to accommodate more of the valley by splitting the locations. The Nellis location will be moving to a 25,000 sq ft location at Craig Rd. and the 15. Look for new locations in Henderson as well as St. George in years to come. General Manager Scott Rucas expressed confidence in the state of the company. New management coupled with "vastly improved products" are the main reasons for his reassurance. This Vegas expansion is met with excitement all around. |

The high point of the event was not the new warehouse, the
friendly company representatives, or even the free food, but the appearance of
Vegas's favorite personality, Oscar Goodman. The mayor made an appearance to
welcome the company’s expansion, and even tried to cut a ribbon with a
gigantic pair of silly scissors.
When Mr. Goodman is around, there is no need for additional entertainment. He kept everyone laughing with one-liners referring to the coincidence of the company's name being his own. "I feel like I own the place," he smiled. "Now I just need my stock." The mayor also drew tickets for the raffle, which among other prizes, included an autographed copy of his biography called, "Of Rats and Men." |
